Founded in 2018, Atelier LI is an architectural practice led by principals Bastien Bai Li and Elise Xuan Li. Educated in Paris and now based in Thailand, our atelier specializes in the synthesis of contemporary architectural language and the natural environment.

Our practice is defined by a dialogue of contrast, navigating the tension between the rigor of European modernism and the organic fluidity of the natural landscape. Drawing from a decade of professional practice across diverse contexts, we bring proven technical precision to the integration of structure and site. We treat the natural environment as a primary building element, dissolving the boundaries between interior and exterior to cultivate spatial continuity and harmony.

By balancing structural clarity with an evolving tropical sensibility, we design spaces that are both intellectually refined and deeply connected to their site. Our goal is to create architectural sanctuaries that enhance the beauty of nature through clean lines and a disciplined modern aesthetic. Bastien Bai Li

Founding Partner and Lead Architect，Architecte D.E.

Bastien Bai Li, trained at ENSA Paris-Belleville, began his professional journey at AARES in Paris. With a decade of specialization in the entire project process — from conceptual vision to final execution — he ensures that the design intent is meticulously realized through technical precision.

He believes the most profound architectural expressions are found in the simplest forms, viewed as the result of a disciplined, rational purity. By refining architecture to its most fundamental components, he crafts spaces of profound serenity — atmospheric sanctuaries where the essence of the site is articulated through structural clarity. This approach translates technical rigor into a luminous visual language and an airy spatial sensibility, anchored by a deep sense of order.

Elise Xuan Li

Founding Partner and Design Principal

Elise Xuan Li, educated at l’Université Paris VIII Vincennes-Saint-Denis, directs the design concepts and aesthetic positioning of the practice. Her work transforms abstract theories into tangible intuitive experiences, ensuring the design vision is woven into the details. By shaping the ambient quality and tactile nature of space, she bridges structural logic and sensory resonance.

She views spatial order and rational beauty as the elemental foundations of any sanctuary. Within this disciplined logic, she prioritizes the human dimension, crafting layouts that resonate with lived experience and natural harmony. Through local craftsmanship and the rhythms of nature, pure forms begin to breathe. This dedication to a "lived-in" quality ensures that the simplicity of essentialism is enriched by a nuanced aesthetic touch. By translating form into an effortless experience, she makes the resulting spaces as serene to inhabit as they are organic to behold.
