Situated on the southern bank of the Li Village River in Qingdao, the observation deck serves multiple purposes, including vertical circulation, a viewing platform, and park service facilities. It features a 40-meter-long ramp made of triangular slabs covered in anticorrosive wood, linking the lower riverbank to the upper city road, with a height difference of 3 meters. The roof platform offers stunning views of the river landscape, and its undulating floor creates an inviting stop for pedestrians. As visitors descend the ramp and stroll along the gently undulating deck, the whole form of this contemporary structure will finally be discovered entirely. All service amenities, such as restrooms and storage, are located beneath the roof deck, which has a metal grille façade. From a distance across the river, the structure appears as a geometric form that emerges organically from the soft landscape while also exhibiting a dynamic twist. This blend of harmony and tension creates a striking visual impact. In the context of Chinese property development, river parks are crucial for connecting various land subdivisions and providing outdoor public spaces. This vibrant architectural facility adds a delightful element to the everyday lives of residents in the vast suburbs.
